Overview about the Office

The Oromo and B/Gumuz and Gambella peoples, especially the people of Western Ethiopia, are geographically connected by their culture, history, and good coexistence it has been and is living together in unity. However, there has been a conflict recently due to security problems between them. there has been displacement, killings and destruction of property widely between the border areas of western oromia and Benishangulgumuz due to the conflict. The Oromia Regional State and BenishangulGumuz have jointly established a joint office on March 29, 2018 under Regulation 196/2010 to eradicate this problem. Accordingly, since the office started operations in 2018, the conflict between the Western Oromia and BenishangulGumuz regions has been resolved by holding a reconciliation conference and the community has been made to return to their homes, the destroyed development infrastructure has been restored 's and replacement has been working. Similarly, the achievements of the office were reviewed and a security and development agreement was signed between the Oromia Regional State and the GambellaRegional State.

Stakeholders of the Office

The office is involved in various NGOs as it is difficult to achieve with the government budget alone as it does a wide range of security and development activities. This will prepare proposals and seek funding for community activities in the three regions. Accordingly:

* We have been working with UNHCR on peace tradition building since 2012/2019 by allocating budget to us in Wollega and Kamashii districts.

* Peace building training on various topics was given to leaders from regional to district levels in Adama, Bushoftu and Addis Ababa in 2019 with the coordination of our office.

* We have established community outreach and peace ambassadors with the Catholic Church in Naqamtee branch and it has been held at various times.

* Work has been done with IOM to bring youth together and establish a sports club.

* A Peace Festival was also held with Worlid vision organization between Oromo and Gumuz nation in 2020.
